New bill introduced to push the slot win reporting total to $5,000

New legislation was introduced earlier this week that would raise the amount slot game players must report to the IRS. Nevada Representative Dina Titus and Pennsylvania Representative Guy Reschenthaler filed the bill as a way to help casinos as well as patrons.

Increasing the Threshold

The measure would increase the current reporting amount of $1,200 to $5,000. It would also provide a way to increase the amount in the future based on inflation. The limit for reporting has not been changed since 1977, based on information from the American Gaming Association (AGA).

A year after Dark and Darker became one of the biggest games on Steam, a newcomer is trying to steal its thunder-

One year after the Steam Next Fest demo for Dark and Darker become one of the biggest games on Steam, another extraction-dungeon-crawler called Dungeonborne—first teased in September 2023 as Project Crawl—is replicating the feat with gameplay that looks a whole lot like its predecessor.

Dungeonborne’s premise is simple: Pick a fantasy character class, team up with a couple other aspiring heroes, and head into the neighborhood dungeon to battle monsters, pilfer treasure, and get out in one piece. Survive, and you’ll have money to spend on better equipment f…

Apex Legends ditches Steam Deck support- EA says Linux is ‘a path for a variety of impactful exploits and cheats’

Bad news, Steam Deck shooters: Electronic Arts has determined that Linux is “a path for a variety of impactful exploits and cheats” in Apex Legends, and it has thus decided to block anyone using the OS from accessing the game.

“The openness of the Linux operating systems makes it an attractive one for cheaters and cheat developers,” the Apex anticheat team wrote in an update explaining its decision.

“Linux cheats are indeed harder to detect and the data shows that they are growing at a rate that requires an outsized level of focus and attention from the team for a relatively small platform. There are also cases in which cheats for the Windows OS get emulated as if it’s on Linux in order to increase the difficulty of detection and prevention.”

Naughty Windows 11 24H2 hasn’t been tidying up its toys, leaving an undeletable 8.63 GB update cache for some users

In my experience, at various points in the lifetime of a Windows install, it’s not uncommon to find Microsoft’s OS leaving chunky update files behind that you have to manually clean up yourself. More than once I’ve wondered where an extra 5 GB or so of my SSD space has gone, only to realise that Windows hasn’t been tidying up after itself the way I would hope.

Still, it’s normally a matter of running the Disk Cleanup utility, tutting appropriately at the leftover update files as they’re removed, and wagging your finger at your machine before you go to bed. Some users of the new Windows 11 24H2 update, however, have been left with a chonky 8.63 GB update cache that simply refuses to be deleted (via Windows Latest).

You can run Disk Cleanup (or its lesser, GUI-laden cousin, …
